Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bomb Proof But Some Design Issues These pants are good protection against the elements, but they do have some issues. The suspenders do not stay up unless you get them so tight that you're skiing with a wedgie. Also, the elastic cuff is so loose that it doesn't grip around a downhill ski boot. In addition, the zipper tabs for the pockets are tiny. They might be that way to avoid pressure points under a pack, but they should come with zipper pulls. I haven't skied with these pants in the rain yet. If they are waterproof as other reviewers say they are, I'll be able to live with the drawbacks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Size issues Let me say up front I am huge Marmot fan for years. I actually bought these two years ago from the new SF store but have been unhappy with them... While searching for NEW ski pants in general came across this page and thought I would weigh in with my experience of these...the overall quality of the build is pretty bulletproof; however there are two main issues: the suspenders need to be strapped up super tight or they slide off...hello wedgie...and the second issue is the billowing, tent-like legs. These are way overcut. When I bought the pants I only had sneakers on and assumed the pants would "settle" in...instead they actually stick out on the sides and, well, look ridiculous.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from sizing I ordered a 2XL spire pant. the only thing XL about these pants are the inseam at something like 40 inches. the 2XL waist came in at 38 inches. Unfortunately, I need to replace my old pants that are wearing out. so, I'll be spending a lot of time with my seamstress making these mislabeled pants correct. since these pants come from a good pedigree and are made with Gortex I am assuming they will perform as expected at 5 stars. however, the poor sizing info gets one star. so, the overall rating is 3 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect pant for touring The spire is hands down one of the greatest pants for touring. It has 3 layer gortex, guaranteeing to keep you dry. I love the full side zips when out on a long tour, you cant beat full leg ventilation! The spire pant is also nice and light and as such won't weight you down on the way up but will certainly keep you warm on the way back down.  They also fit loose enough to fit extra layers underneath on days when things get a bit frosty. Overall a great pair of pants!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good gore-tex, but terrible fit. I love Marmot products; however, these pants are a complete fail as far as fit goes. I'm 5'11 180lbs and ordered the medium. Like others have said the pants billow out significantly. They look terrible and in order for them to stay up you get a nice wedgie. I can't imagine how the large would fit me. Marmot quality is always top notch. I have several of their jackets. This was my first pair of pants and I'm returning them asap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good choice Really good pant, liked the fit and very practical. Only issue that prevents 5 stars is the suspenders which I had trouble keeping on my shoulders. I moved them to the innermost belt loops but that didn't totally solve the problem, so I need another solution to keep them up. Tightening the straps made them uncomfortable.
