Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag I bought this bag two years ago and have used it in high single digit temps comfortably (I'm from Alaska so I might sleep hotter than the average guy). I've used it on the Oregon Coast, in British Columbia, the Sierra Nevadas, and all over Alaska and it's put up well with some regular abuse. I'm 6', 175lbs and the regular fits me perfect. I've honestly never been a fan of Marmot, but I found this bag for a great deal and read great reviews. I am now a Marmot fan and if I had to do it all over again, I'd buy this bag in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bag for big boys This was a surprise birthday gift from my family. I am 6'2 and about 225. For me finding a warm, reasonably light and comfortable sleeping bag has always been difficult. Most that are considered light are very, very tight around the shoulders and not doable for a whole night of sleeping. Or on the other side of the spectrum are made in such a generally 'large' fashion that they are much too big and weigh too much to be warm and packable. This bag is perfect for me. I bought a size long and it fits great. Close on the shoulders but I also have some room to move around. Not at all constrictive. Seems like it was made for a bigger person. Which is also something to consider... if you are smaller stature this may (not certain, but may) not be the best bag for you. Also note, it does not have a draft collar so if you cant fill up the bag you may not gain optimal heat. The bag is made so so well. The inside material is very plush. The materials, stitching and zipper are top notch. You can feel the difference from lower quality bags once you climb into it. Performance: It is light. For a 15 degree bag it is really light and small when packed away. About the size of a larger than normal loaf of sourdough bread. The 800 fill down is very warm and I believe that it has an accurate temperature rating. Case in point: went out for a winter overnight trip with some buddies in Desolation Wilderness in the Sierras. One guy forgot his sleeping pad entirely. Not sure how that happens but he left his at home. I mean, who does that? Anyways, sun was going down so we gave him our mylar sheets that we usually place under our sleeping pads so that he would survive the night - just kidding by the way - kinda. Temp dropped to the low teens. The sleeping pad I brought has a pretty low R-value. I wanted to push the bag a little bit to see how it would do in not optimal conditions. I usually combine which ever pad I am using with the mylar pad. This combo has always worked great, so I was willing to try it for one night. But once I gave the mylar pad away I was sleeping on snow, with a pad that is not made to sleep on snow, with very little reflected heat coming back towards me. In spite of this little snafu, the Helium did great. Stayed warm in all the important places and only occasionally felt a slight cold spot on my shoulders or hips as the cold crept up on my sleeping pad. Core, toes and fingers were nice and warm. Pretty impressive in my opinion. So even in a much less than ideal situation, with a hiking buddy who lost his mind and forgot something so important, I can trust this bag to be as warm as it is rated. I think this bag is even appropriate for warmer weather as well. Open it up and use it as a blanket. If you get too hot, just throw an arm or leg out to cool off. Plus, its super soft and lofty so very comfortable to bunch up and lay on. I hope that this thing lasts a lifetime. I can not imagine ever looking for something else. Thanks Marmot, one heck of a sleeping bag you made!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag The lack of a right zipper does bother me, but it packs great, weighs very little, meets it's heating standard and is quite comfortable. I took this with me in the Annapurna sanctuary and it performed well at the different climates and temperatures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9 Years Later... This has been the most amazing pice of gear that I have ever owned. I have used it from chilly nights in Ohio to "freezing" temps in the deep south and it is currently my 3 season bag in the Rockies. I also used a Marmot Atom for summertime in the south for a few years, but sold it after I could start using this one for all my spring/summer/fall adventures. This bag has stood the test of time. Ive used it it tents, bivys, and hammocks and it has never once given me issues... Ok, maybe it is a little too hot for most of the time in Georgia, and it might not be super toasty if you take it down to 15F in a hammock with no sleeping pad or other insulation, but these cases are obviously not what this bag (or my hammock) was designed for. I recently hand washed this bag with down wash after I noticed it was starting to loose loft. Now it puffs up like new and it repels water like a rain jacket. I have never gotten a hole in the bag and I only ever recall getting the zipper snagged 4 times. Im still amazed. Every time I think about replacing this bag a quick cost/weight analysis always reveals that it would be wasteful. This bag has been perfect. I look foreword to using it for another 9 years. If my original Helium EQ has done this well, and if I were doing it all again, I would buy this bag. Any upgrades could only make this better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Year-round bag! Kind of... I hoped to buy a bag to cover me throughout the whole year and in part this is it. The only "downside" is I run very hot so I can only really use this for it's intended temperatures. Which should be obvious really, but for anyone wondering, there you have it: great for cold fall nights and winter camping. Can't wait for winter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag! I love this bag. Packs down small and light. Use it for late fall and early Spring in Michigan. The Down Defender is the icing on the cake. I love Marmot bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bag. I have this bag and spent the night in 12* in Chaco Canyn. It was warm and toasty. I was skivvies only to keep from over heating. The breath frost on the inside of the tent was thick but the lil piggies were warm. A must have for cold weather camping. And worth every dollar

Rated 3 out of 5 by from helium down bag. I bought this bag for backpacking. It is ultralight and packs down really well. I've owned it for about five seasons. It is perfect for my three seasons of packing. It has accidentally ended up being a four season bag. It kept me warm and dry. Especially with a bivy sack overtop.
