My friends often call me the “Queen of Jackets”. One of the great benefits of being a Marmot Athlete is the quiver of jackets I have to get any job done. Be it guiding in the Tetons, Himalaya, the Desert, Ski Patrolling at Telluride or a night on the town, I have the luxury of pulling the right piece out of my closet, no matter what the endeavor or conditions warrant.

Hands down, the Super Hero Jacket is my favorite Soft Shell. I reach for it every time I’m gearing up for an adventure where wind protection, water resistance and breathability are key. The Super Hero suits up well with Marmot’s Midweight Zip layer underneath for brisk morning starts. For sweaty approaches it wicks moisture away as well as it keeps wind out. Unless it’s absolutely dumping, I find the Super Hero keeps me dry in pretty darn wet conditions.

If it is dumping, add Marmot’s Minimalist or Exum Gortex Jacket to your quiver and you’ve got a bombproof, lightweight system. For ice climbing or skiing, add the insulation of the Ama Dablam or Guide’s Down Sweater and you are good to go in bitter cold. For a night on the town, you will be impressed with how good the jacket feels with a t-shirt underneath. This jacket is one stop shopping and it looks sharp to boot!

This is Marmot’s most technical Soft Shell jacket. It’s stacked with features that guides, alpinists and serious outdoor users desire. The pockets are awesome, functional and work well with a harness and or pack on. My favorite feature is the Driclime-lined, generously high collar that keeps wind and snow out, and is just downright cozy when zipped up. The functional and Gore-tex waterproof hood tucks away neatly in the collar giving it extra insulation and rigidity, or zips off altogether if you like. The hood also fits well over a helmet and adds another factor of warmth and protection instantly. It looks good in or out. The wrist cuffs have been more streamlined in this generation and are less bulky and more functional.

The Super Hero has gone through numerous evolutions since it’s inception and like the Sharp Point, has remained in the line. It’s been a favorite amongst the Design Board Members and Exum Guides through numerous generations. Unique to the Super Hero is a “mosaic” or body mapping of fabrics, pieced together in absolutely precise locations to give it exceptional movement, durability, breathability and unexpected comfort next to the skin. Through several generations, this jacket has proved itself a true Super Hero. So bust out your mask and cape and let your imagination take you to places you only dreamed of before life with, and as a Super Hero!
