800 Fill Down

Certified 800+ Fill Goose Down bags are constructed with the following features:
- Nautilus Hood: the same construction as our 8000m jacket hood, a 3D hood that
wraps around your head and reduces heat loss. - Hood Muff: creates a warm down gasket around your face, keeping the drawcord
away from the face. - Stretch Tricot Baffles: allow the bag to be stuffed and unstuffed without tearing the baffle material.
- Trapezoid Foot box: matches the shape of your feet, wider in the toe area and narrower in the heels.
- Down Fill Oversized Draft Tube: eliminates cold spots
- Zipper guard: keeps the draft tube fabric from getting caught in the zipper
- Ground Level Seams: top layer wraps fully around the body creating a warm layer of down.

The Zeus Jacket is incredible. Extremely lightweight and exceptionally warm. I've worn this jacket over a t-shirt in 20 degree weather and been comfortable. At the same time, it is roomy enough to accommodate layers for colder conditions. A great jacket at a fair price.

I bought this Jacket on sale at REI. I am a avid hiker and it is perfect for that. Extremely warm and comfortable. I am very happy with this jacket.

What is the fill-weight on this jacket?
on 5/20/10.
What is the fill weight and the total weight of this jacket?
on 5/29/10.
The fill weight is: 800 Fill Power Goose Down.
How much is the total actual weight of the jacket??
on 8/13/10.
No, the fill power is 800. The specs don't mention the fill weight. So, again, what is the fill weight??

Wonderful jacket, super lightweight with more warmth than any jacker this size should provide. Great for late season backpacking when the weather is unpredictable - just stuff it into its own pocket and be ready for the worst.
This jacket with a hardshell is great up until early winter. With a midweight softshell (i've been using the Ultima Jacket - an M2 softshell) I've been comfortable walking around in 15 degree weather.

Stuff the into the left hand pocket from the inside. So push the pocket inside out and stufff from there. That pocket has a zipper on the inside and out for this purpose.

thanks for info on how to pack it into the pocket. i love this jacket.

Thank you so much - wondering how to do this on your own was difficult, but once trying to do this it's easy as pie!
How rain/wind resistant is this thou - don't want to ruin a perfect jacket?
on 10/16/10.
How do you put the jacket in the pocket? There are no instructions for this.
on 11/27/10.
I do not know how to fold it into its own pocket either. If someone knows, please post instructions. Thanks!

Are you guys serious?
1. Find the pocket with the double sided pull- the left pocket IIRC. Unzip it.
2. Reach your hand into the pocket. Pull the pocket inside out.
3. Stuff the jacket into the pouch created by the inside-out pocket until the *entire* jacket is packed.
4. Zip shut.
Voilà!
Do not leave the jacket packed into its own pocket indefinitely- it's bad for the down. In your pack between campsites on a hiking trip, yes; in your closet for the summer, no.

I also bought this jacket at REI. It is extremely warm for its bulk and weight. I bought it instead of another fleece jacket since I am a cold-blooded guy - and it has been awesome.

Hi I have a doubt. Let me know if this jacket is suitable for mountaineering activities at altitudes of 16000 feet? and secondly I would like to know the minimum temperature that could support this jacket?
on 12/6/11.
The jacket will definitely work at 16k feet. How effective it is (minimum temperature) really depends on the season, conditions, your layering setup, and your own tolerances to cold weather/wind.

It's a great lightweight insulating piece but as the description states for the "city". Can it be used as a layering piece yes. I use it for winter backpacking and skiing, but with other base layers. And alone as an insulating piece for spring/fall backpacking after the hike. At serious altitude I would look towards another item with a heavier fill weight.

To Roy of Kent - I just bought a Zeus Jacket at "Blacks" at Bluewater. They told me they just started stocking Marmot recently.
on 11/5/10.
I bought a Zeus jacket while on holiday in Wales UK.
It is fantastic. Now my wife wants one but as we live in England in Kent we cannot find a retailer to try one. As she may want one with a hood she would rather try one in a shop than sent mail order.
Do you know of any retailers in our area 50 miles south east of London.

I want a seriously warm coat for very low activity levels that is durable and wind/water resistant that i dont have to use with a shell or a base layer to keep toastie warm in the teens,
Is this jacket gonna be as warm and durable as a Nupte or a Zero jacket or your guide with so little stuffing?

Thank you

I have a small tear in my sleeve approx 1cm x 1cm in an "L" shape. Is there a repair kit on the market that will be sufficient to fix this, or can I send it back to marmot for a repair?
on 11/12/10.
Please go to our warranty page at https://warranty.marmot.com/ to register your Zeus Jacket and send it back to us for repair. Thank you!

am interested in buying this for my husband. doesn't talk about any water/wind resistence or repellent.
please advise and thanks much.
on 11/17/10.
Thank you for your question. The Zeus jacket is water repellant. This means that in a light mist or fog, water will just bead up on the outside of the jacket. The Zeus Jacket is not meant for wearing in a heavy rain.

thanks so much - i'm going to order it for him for xmas. awesome!!

This jacket is legit. As in, it would hit on your girlfriend, and you would let it. That being said....
I have used this jacket for various hiking/outdoor/peak bagging activities in Idaho. We recently went through a cold snap that dropped the temp to -5 deg, and this jacket performed great, it is extremely warm especially with a t-shirt and base layer underneath. One thing I really liked was that it was not as puffy and huge as some down jackets, so I don't look like an Eskimo. (Nothing against Eskimos:-) I'm a tall guy, 6'4" and 190 lbs, but fairly thin, and the XL fits me like a champ with plenty of room for layering underneath. If you are tall and want a super slim fit, go with a L.
Sleeve Length is great (I have long arms), stretchy cuffs stay tight over gloves, cinch string is fantastic and with the sleeve design this jacket won't ride up if you are securing gear to your car roof or reaching above shoulder level. One major bonus is the zipper construction which doesn't let freezing cold wind through the jacket, which is great because we get a TON of wind in Idaho.
Jacket is mildly water resistant, I have worn it in light snow, and haven't had any problems. Would not recommend wearing in a rain storm without a waterproof shell on top (obviously).
In conclusion... jacket is warm, light, fits well, affordable, and...looks pretty bad A. Stoked to use in Jackson Hole this winter:-)

Has anyone used the Zeus as a midlayer under a soft shell? Too bulky? I was thinking about getting the Marmot Aegis and wearing the Zeus underneath. Thanks

This jacket rocks! Have had many coats/jackets over the years but it keeps me warm even at -30. Live in northern Ontario where winters can be cruel. I suggest it to everyone
