Care Instructions
Marmot does not recommend dry cleaning for any of our products. Gore-Tex® fabric products, MemBrain® fabric products, down insulated products, and fleece are all machine washable. You should use a commercial front loading machine and follow the care instructions.

This is a beautiful sleek jacket. When I wear it, people tell me I look like I've lost weight. That being said, it is very form fitting. Definitely unlike any other brand I ever owned. The pockets are higher than usual so they aren't meant to warm hands and because it is so form fitting, you can't really put a lot of stuff in them- kind of took some getting used to but I have snow pants with pockets so not really a problem. The bottom seems to be longer than other jackets and is tighter- very hip hugging.
I got this in black because I have many lightweight fleeces and I wanted something neutral that could be worn with anything when it's snowing or very windy in Wisconsin winter. This is great but I'm glad it has the underarm zippers because you can definitely overheat with activity. It will keep the wind out completely. The fabric is a bit stiff as you might expect with real Gore-tex, so it is a bit noisy. Overall a great jacket.

I found this jacket on the trail to conundrum hotsprings outside of aspen. I must just be super lucky, because it happens that a women's small fits me perfectly! I used the jacket for the remaining 4 days of climbing and skiing steep faces, powdery couloirs, and open bowls of spring corn. It performed amazingly, and I have to say that I haven't worn my (men's) shell since finding this one. ONce I got home and looked in a mirror I realized the cut is a bit girly, but HEY it was FREE! It even had a picture of the virgin mary in the breast pocket :)

What do you mean by "shell"? Is this jacket insulated? Do I need to wear a fleece under this "shell"? I'm looking for a jacket to wear skiing in CO... thank you!

This is a high-quality GORE-TEX® waterproof/breathable shell. It does not incorporate insulation. Wear it over a warm mid-layer for cold weather activities.

Got this jacket because the Alpinist was sold out. absolutely love it. i have worn it in the snow with and without an insulated layer. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a high performance layer with style. i love the hood that kind of conforms to your head. the flexible visor keeps rain out of your face and the hood stays put. love love love the black Spire Jacket
