M2
Marmot M-series fabrics are designed for moving light and fast. They combine stretchable, water repellent, abrasion resistant and highly breathable shell materials with insulating buffer materials on the inside.
M2 shells are the ideal balance between weather resistance, breathability and thermal protection. They are appropriate for a wide range of aerobic use in moderate to cold conditions.

PolarTec® Power Shield®
Power Shield® technology utilizes a perforated membrane that can control the amount of wind resistance and air permeability. The key to Power Shield® fabric is that the perforated membrane allows a wider range of comfort in aerobic and sweaty conditions. Power Shield O2® is more air permeable, making it ideal in the backcountry, (Fall 2010 only).

Love this jacket! I was looking for a hooded soft shell, and this one really fit the bill, though there are still a few drawbacks. First, the fit is fantastic; nipped at the waist, with plenty of room in the hips, and roomy enough to move your arms around comfortable without looking baggy or boxy. That said, Marmot's size charts are off...both heigh/weight and measurements say I should wear a small, but considering how the medium fits, the small probably still would "fit," but it wouldn't look nice, and I wouldn't be able to wear anything but a thin layer underneath. I'm not crazy about the color options, but I like that the black is at least not plain black. The fabric is fantastic: totally windproof, however it's not super warm, so layer up for the cold. I thought I'd be bothered by the lack of pit zips, but haven't been so far, and I've worn in it in weather from the low 50s through 20s F. My only other complaint is that the hood is only adjustable in one direction, which means it's hard to keep it from covering your eyes sometimes. I have this as well as the Sassy rain jacket, and I have to say that Marmot really knows how to make a jacket fit a woman's shape, not just be a smaller copy of a men's version. KUDOS! I'm sure more Marmot purchases are in my future.
