GORE-TEX® Paclite®

The lightest, most packable outerwear available, GORE-TEX® PacLite® garments are durably waterproof, windproof and breathable and are built for activities when weight and space are critical, but protection is still important.

The face fabric is constructed of high-performance polyester or nylon and on the inside GORE-TEX® Paclite® Shells use a specific GORE-TEX® membrane with a protective layer made of an oil-hating substance and carbon. So no separate lining is required. This makes GORE-TEX® Paclite® shells lighter and smaller to pack away.

Special Gore-Seam® tape technology ensures all seams are 100% waterproof.

GORE-TEX® PacLite® Shells are great for trekking, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, cycling, hunting, fishing, golfing and water sports.

Countryfile April 2009 Minimalist

Maximum Breathability

It might be called Minimalist but this jacket’s breathability is maximal thanks to a Gore-Tex Paclite membrane that handles moisture well. Additionally, side zips allow air to circulate. The large hood, which protects reasonably well, is big enough to cover a helmet if you scramble or climb, but even with the volume-adjusting rear tab it can be overwhelming for walking. A curious hood drawcord arrangement allows single-handed adjustment only when the jacket’s front zip is part down; you’ll need both hands when it’s fully fastened.

The Seattle Times 10/29/09 Minimalist Jacket

The Marmot Minimalist does away with unnecessary frills and features.

Our female testers loved the Marmot Minimalist jacket. Cut for a trim, athletic fit, the Minimalist does away with unnecessary frills and features. The simple, clean design fits comfortably over a thin midlayer without binding or bunching, allowing freedom of movement while hiking, scrambling and climbing. One tester noted that the hem is just long enough to fit under a backpack belt to ensure it doesn’t ride up and deposit rainwater in your pants. Though Paclite breathes better than other Gore products, the Minimalist provides additional ventilation through armpit zippers that extend forward on the body of the jacket a bit to improve air flow. The jacket weighs less than a pound and sells for $200. - Dan A. Nelson

Reviews and comments

I have this jacket in Red, I love it! It fits properly, looks great, and is very functional. It's easy to pack, keeps you dry (hiked all day in a downpour and was still dry underneath!) and the pitzips help keep you cool. All the little details are there, someone really thought this one through.

I wear easily fit in a large in everything else in life but not these jackets, I have to wear XL which is no big deal. However what is problematic is that the XLe sleeves pull at the elbow. A little more space in sleeve width and across shoulders and it would be perfect. //

The cut of the body of the coat is awesome (flattering, flares at hip ever so slightly). I tried the guy's version to get the sleeve space, and you can sure tell the body is cut differently. //

The blue colour is gorgeous, in person it's even prettier than on the computer screen! //

Please make larger sizes marmot!

I wear a medium in most things, bought a large in this so my heavy sweater would fit under, but in fact should have bought XL.

I absolutly love my new jacket in vibrant purple. I almost bought a mountain equipment one but the hood kept coming loose and falling in front of my face, luckily I saw this at the last moment and it has a fab adjuster ACROSS the back of the hood and there is enough room if you're wearing a helmet but is nice fit if not. it also has a velcro fastener in the back of the hood to further tighten the fit. I love the velvet y texture of the jacket that it doesn't make a lot of noise like other waterproofs, it's more like a jacket. the hood is a perfect fit around the face which is what I need when have a dog pulling me & bending down etc. 10/10

Is there any pockets with this jacket? How many and where? thanks!

There are zippered hand pockets, two of them, near the waist.

A lot of comments are saying to get a size or two bigger, but the large is true to size according to the chart based on my height/wt. It fits me perfectly and I am 5'5, 170 lbs, and wear a 36 DD. I can easily wear my thick hoodie with layers underneath the jacket - it is so cozy! Can't wait to put it to the test in Portland.
