MemBrain® Strata™

Marmot’s own lightweight waterproof / breathable technology. A lamination technology that rates a whopping 20,000mm in waterproof performance and 20,000 gr in breathability.

Requiring neither lining nor 3-layer construction like many similar lamination processes, MemBrain® Strata™ products are by far the lightest, most breathable garments in their categories.

Marmot’s proprietary 2.5 layer MemBrain® Strata uses micro non-organic particles on the inside of the lamination to increase durability and provide a dry touch instead of that clammy feeling you get from some other products.

The back print pattern is carefully designed to achieve the maximum durability and breathability. Abrasion tests rate 4-5 times better than regular MemBrain® (which is why regular MemBrain, as well as all 2-layer laminates require a separate lining).

Compared to 2.5 layer coatings in the market, our 2.5 layer lamination is about 100% more breathable. In addition, laminated stretch fabrics stretch more and have a softer hand than 2.5 layer coated fabrics.

Hi,
I'm french and excuse me for my english. I wanted to say, that i had this jacket about 2 years and i'm very pleased. I wanted a jacket which is very waterproof and breathable with integrated cooling vents and the Gale-Force Hood with Reinforced Brim is a very important point for me.
I used this Jacket for Trail and ultra trail because it is very light weight. I noticed a small problem due to the fact that the fabric is light and that it ya many frictions with the backpack. For me the zones of reinforcements should be a little bigger (at the level of shoulders and especially in the back. That would increase the life expectancy of fabric.
This jacket remains one of the best of its category.

I have this jacket and love it, but I need pants made out of the same material. Does marmot have any plans on making some pants out of this material?

I tried the Essence pants but they seem like they won't last being as thin as they are, just talking about sitting down on bleachers and chairs not rocks or ground.

I know the minimalist are thicker/heavier but I want some that are the same weight/look material as the super mica and mica jackets. The micas seem like great sellers and as many different jackets as Marmot has I would think they would have more pants to match.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I love this jacket. Its very lightweight without cutting the features I want, zip pit vents. It keeps me dry even in a downpour.
I did notice is that the ring stitch around the cuffs isn't seam sealed. When the rain is really really coming down water droplets can form on the inside of the stitch where the needle went through the fabric. Its slightly annoying but all cuffs usually get wet no matter what you do with a really heavy downpour. I went and checked and all the jackets at REI have this same cuff stitch. I called Marmot Warranty and they said that I can put seam seal on it and it wont void the warranty on the whole jacket just that seam. Taking 1 star away for the wrist stitch.
I strongly recommend this jacket for anyone looking for a fully featured lightweight jacket.

I’m glad you like the award-winning Super Mica Jacket as much as we do. I’ll pass along your comment about the cuff seam to our designers.

Is there a super mica for women?

No there is not.

Pros - Great anywhere ultra light, compact, full coverage, breathe-ability and ventilation are important. Fits and moves well w/ pack or on bike. Ventilation adjustments (pit zips, vent pockets, waist draw string, sleeves large enough to roll up) help avoid the need to take off and put on in changing conditions. Like large pit zips, ventilated pockets, one hand draw strings, hood visor. Trade offs - Price and durability, but an excellent value. Not all day monsoon gear, but breathe-ability nearly eliminates getting wet from your own sweat. Could use larger (shoulder and hip) reinforcement (coating) areas and on elbows and larger zip pull tabs. Runs a little small. Use - 1yr of trail running, peak bagging, mountain biking, etc. in Cascades and Sierras. Summary - Highly recommended. I'll absolutely buy another. A light jacket is one of the most important pieces of gear and the Super Mica is unbeatable. Just buy it! You won't regret it.
