I purchased this jacket a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. The first day I wore it a big front moved in with +30 mph wind gusts, rain and snow. The jacket performed perfectly. I was dry as a bone and completely warm. The jacket provides perfect protection from the elements without being bulky or cumbersome. The mobility is excellent. Although this was my first Marmot purchase, it will definitely not be my last.

I recently purchased a super hero jacket. I actually sold an old Arcteryx jacket on ebay and needed something to replace it. I live in Texas, and the weather can be crazy in the winter. Large temperature fluctuations, rain, snow, wind, etc. The jacket has been absolutely amazing. Sheds rain, blocks wind, and has kept me warm with temps down to the mid 30s F. I would recommend this jacket to everyone. And no, I do not work for Marmot. I plan on traveling to Aspen this summer to do some hiking and mtn biking and this will be the only jacket I take for the cold evenings.
Hope this helps!
CHEERS!

I have a super hero that's several years old and is showing its age. The version I have is a really "basic" jacket, having only one chest pocket and no hood, with a very slim cut to it.

What is available these days that's closest to the SHs from 2002 or so? I need a replacement shipped out to Korea.

I owned the marmot Sharp Pointe for years, and I nearly lived in it. I live in Seattle, which means that thing got a lot of use... close to 300 days/year. I didn't think anything could ever beat that jacket, till I got the SuperHero.

Pros: Absolutley stops all wind. Although they play it safe by saying it is highly water resistant, its basically waterproof. I'm in a lot of rain and I ski in this jacket. I LOVE the extra large collar. Covers your neck with you having to tuck your chin in during high wind. Also, I think the larger collar looks very cool. The tucked away hood is great because I don't like wearing a jacket year round that has a hood hanging off the back. Its perfect.

Cons: I wish they made it with the M1 softshell. It only comes in M2. If you want M1 and Windstopper, you have your choice of the Sharp Point, or another jacket (I forgot the name) which has a hood that does NOT fold into the collar. Too bad.

I should clarify, I am NOT an emloyee of Marmot, but I almost should be... love their stuff. this is my favorite and most versatile technical garment.

What jacket should I look at for a simplified version of this? I don't want the hood, as my older super hero only has a chest pocket, and I prefer the simplicity and lack of bulk.
