M1
Marmot M-series fabrics are designed for moving light and fast. They combine stretchable, water repellent, abrasion resistant and highly breathable shell materials with insulating buffer materials on the inside.
M1 shells provide the highest level of warmth and thermal protection. They are best for intermittent aerobic use in cold conditions.

Care Instructions
Marmot does not recommend dry cleaning for any of our products. Gore-Tex® fabric products, MemBrain® fabric products, down insulated products, and fleece are all machine washable. You should use a commercial front loading machine and follow the care instructions.

Wore this jacket for the 1st time for a morning bicycle commute. Approximately 6.75 miles, 60°F, steady but not total downpour of rain. Jacket kept me very dry, just a bit of dampness managed to get through. I was surprised by how much the water beaded up on the jacket surface. Breathability is good, no overheating with zipper and hood all the way up. Also, nice big hood is good for fitting over bike helmet. I will probably spray the jacket with Tectron or Nicwax for future, heavier rain use...

This jacket looks great and I am thinking about picking one up. Few questions though. In the description it says "as stretchable and easygoing as it is water and windproof." Then later in the features section it is labeled as "Water Resistant,". So which one is it?
And also how warm is this jacket? I live way up in Vermont and am looking for a jacket to be my go-to all weather choice. Is this it or does it lack enough insulation to keep one warm in the dead of winter?

This jacket is Water Resistant and made of M1 softshell material. To be waterproof a product needs to be made of a waterproof material as well as be 100% Seam-taped.

Just purchased this Jacket...it's AWESOME!! black/Large fits perfect, even with the Marmot Zeus 1/2 zip underneath as a heavy under layer, smaller under layers obviously feel a little more roomy...Im' 6'2" 180lbs with a 6'7" wingspan and LOVE the arm length of this jacket...AND all my Marmot gear for that matter!!! Stretchy, tough, soft on the inside, soft pockets, inner chest pocket, big hood for outside the helmet (however great hood adjustment system allows it to fit what you need) this is a serious softshell for the price...GREAT LOOKING jacket as well and I have the simple black color...the other colors look awesome(r) :)
