Does this jacket work for skiing?

thanks

This is a great skiing jacket with bomber features like fully waterproof taped Gore-Tex, angel-wing movement, pow skirt and lots of pockets.

The overall quality of top the line. It has all the necessary details. The cut is nice. Sits right below belt. Although I worried about that it might be too short for winter wearing, it turns out to be really nice.

The powder shirt also equipped with the "chimney vent system"(THF call it in this way) , which might be very helpful during high activities.

It is a little tight under the arm. I find this is a general problem for Marmot's cut.

I gave a minus to the colour. If you like the image showed to the "Black", you would be disappointed. It is not as what is shown in the picture. The actual piece is SOLID BLACK, which disappointed me so much.

I haven't tested it on snow. But I have confidence with it.

What is the center back length on the large

28.5"

Curious as to how this jacket compares to the new Zion re warmth, need for layering, etc...I am considering both as my main ski jacket

Thanks..

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Zion and the Silverton jackets. http://marmot.com/compare/216-303/13110/13121
They are very different jackets. The Zion is a waterproof softshell and the Silverton is a GORE-TEX® outer shell. If the jackets were worn by themselves, with no layering, the Zion would be warmer because it is more form fitting. The Silverton was designed with mid-layers in mind, and will allow for more layering.

Great jacket, love the finish and *almost* everything about the fit. It is too darn tight in the armpits!

I'm 5'8, 155 and wear a medium in everything. The armpits in this jacket are ridiculously shallow and the pit zipper bites my arms.

Shame I have to return it, it was almost the perfect jacket.

Is the jacket also applicable for hiking with backpack?

Yes it's the jacket that many Exum guides use for summer guiding.
