PreCip™
PreCip™ is our “next step” technology that enables us to construct the lightest, most compressible, technical, waterproof and breathable rainwear in the world. Ventilated and breathable to keep you dry from the inside, PreCip rainwear has plenty of pockets and custom fit features to keep you warm, dry and comfortable.
The key to PreCip™ is its barrier technology: a microporous polyurethane that is impregnated with silicon dioxide particles. These particles create small, numerous, very consistent holes that allow the barrier to pass small water vapor molecules but not the bigger liquid ones. This keeps the rain out while letting your sweat vapor work its way outside, away from your body, to keep you dry from the inside as well as from the outside. PreCip™ rainwear is compressible enough to stuff into a water bottle and comes in enough colors and styles to travel with you anywhere– to the mountains, the city or overseas.

Field Notes From Our Testers
On an early-summer trip to Mt. Shasta, these bargain rain pants held up on glissades that ripped the seat out of more expensive models. Our test reports, “The pants didn’t leak a drop, even sliding in wet snow, and the PreCip fabric breathed well while I climbed with a base layer underneath.” Ankle zips make for easy on-off. The pull-ons have no fly, but for the price, we’re not complaining.

These pants are great in terms of water resistance, and comfort. They dont stick to your skin when you sweat, and shed water very well.
Took these up Longs Peak, and had to take shelter under a rock when a storm rolled in. ONE nap under that rock, and I have a hole in the seat. Very disappointing. For the price you would think they could take a little more abuse than that.
All the comfort and water resistance in the world wont do you any good if they dont stay in one piece!

The PreCip Pant is an ideal lightweight, waterproof pant you can easily stash in your pack for just such an occasion as yours. However, we do have more durable options. Please check out our Warranty site to get your pants repaired. https://warranty.marmot.com/

nice pant, good coverage. i like how the waist line is cut a lil higher. matched up the inseam with a pair of arc'teryx pants and the waist rides an easy 1.5'' higher(lrg to lrg) . im always concerned with how much my jacket and pants overlap too account for movement, and it makes seamless clearance for my hipbelt. hecka lite and cant beat the price for the quality!!! for you backpackers, my only complaint are the zippered pockets. the zipper handles sit under my hipbelt(osprey bioform or with my exos), kinda uncomfortable when in the closed position. not bad in the open position but pockets useless with hipbelt on nonetheless. havin them open compromises waterproofness. unless i sag the pant down, which i only do on the street; and causes the elasticized(chaf alert!)waistband to sit under my belt. just so u can get an idea, im 5'10'', roughly 190 lbs, with 30'' inseam and 20.5'' back. shorter legs longer torso. mite work for you!!! definately nice pant. oh and pay close attention to sizing guide, i feel that this pant runs a lil larger than the norm, fit great over my down inner pants!!! gona try a medium for over reg base layer, but doubt it will remedy zipper issue. hey nice marmot, how about a backpacker specific precip pant with no pockets? save some weight, seams, cost, comfort, and make many an ultralite backpacker veeeeeerrrryyy happy!!!

The inseams on the PreCip Pant:

Regular = 32"
Short = 30"

Hi, are the following info correct? I saw some official Marmot size chart, & the Inseam for a Medium is listed as 31", & no options are available for Long, Regular, or Short. My Inseam's 32"+. Pls advise, Thanks
The inseams on the PreCip Pant:
Long = 34"
Regular = 32"
Short = 30"
on 7/26/10.
Thank you for your question. The listed inseams on the PreCip Pant are correct: Long is 34", Regular is 32" and Short is 30". The inseam length is determined by Long, Regular and Short. If you were to purchase a Med Regular, the inseam would be 32", a Med Long the inseam would be 34", etc.
