MemBrain® Strata™
Marmot’s own lightweight waterproof / breathable technology. A lamination technology that rates a whopping 20,000mm in waterproof performance and 20,000 gr in breathability.
Requiring neither lining nor 3-layer construction like many similar lamination processes, MemBrain® Strata™ products are by far the lightest, most breathable garments in their categories.
Marmot’s proprietary 2.5 layer MemBrain® Strata uses micro non-organic particles on the inside of the lamination to increase durability and provide a dry touch instead of that clammy feeling you get from some other products.
The back print pattern is carefully designed to achieve the maximum durability and breathability. Abrasion tests rate 4-5 times better than regular MemBrain® (which is why regular MemBrain, as well as all 2-layer laminates require a separate lining).
Compared to 2.5 layer coatings in the market, our 2.5 layer lamination is about 100% more breathable. In addition, laminated stretch fabrics stretch more and have a softer hand than 2.5 layer coated fabrics.

Just purchased this jacket at a local REI, Got it on clearance for almost half-price ($89.95) -- compared to some other models/brands this was too good of a deal to pass up.
I wore it in a cool rain this eve with a long-sleeve Minus33 merino wool shirt. Lght, comfortable, completely waterproof. Just what I was looking for, but I'd say that depending on the layers underneath this could be a decent multi-purpose jacket as well as for weather protection.

The BEST jacket I have ever owned, a MARMOT fan for life. The color is awesome and plenty of room to layer. You get what you pay for and this is more than worth it. Looking forward to many years of great use and looking good in this jacket. Thanks, Marmot!

Wore it through some after effects of Hurricane Irene and stayed completely dry. I still always carry it with me rain or not. Its a perfect Autumn jacket for here in northern NY

I used this as an outer-layer for my backpacking trip to Big Sur this past weekend. One of my go-to items for quick relief from the cold and wind. I love this jacket.

Bought this lightweight shell for 3-season ops in SoCal mountains and deserts. Just in from tracking training in a cold rain at 4400 feet. Lots of standing around, crouching. Very comfortable and dry all day with light base and medium insulating layer. Good job Marmot!

I bought this jacket at REI in seattle while visiting some friends. Works perfectly for hiking or just around town in wet weather. The pit zips are the best feature of this jacket for me, as I live in north louisiana and it stays warm if not hot most of the time. Great to wear in summer but is roomy enough to comfortably wear a mid-layer underneath if it's chilly. All around great jacket. I will definitely be purchasing more marmot products in the future.

I lived in my oracle for 2 weeks in the first half of Washinton on the PCT. It's bombproof. For constant rain, fog, mist, drizzle, wintery mix, and ungodly combinations thereof, this is my go to jacket.

I purchased a Marmot jacket back in 2004 that performed well until the taped seams started peeling off. Sent it in to Marmot through their repair center; in return I received a brand new Oracle jacket, unbelievable!!! This jacket is fantastic and does a great job of keeping me dry during outdoor activities such as backpacking and hiking! Their customer service is superb just like their products! Marmot for life!

top-notch customer service. My old(er) Marmot jacket started to wear due to the membrane cracking. It was replaced, no questions asked with an Oracle jacket. Sweet deal and a great jacket. I WILL buy more Marmot.
