Matterhorn 30 review by Brad Clement
Brad began his professional career in the mountains by working as a guide and then transitioned into climbing and high altitude film work. He is one of few to have reached the top of Everest from both Tibet and Nepal, and has worked on five productions projects involving Everest. Last year he led an expedition to Annapurna for Ovarian Cancer Awareness and the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation, and currently he is preparing for a trip to the Diamond Couloir on Mt. Kenya to help promote HERA and cancer awareness. This coming Spring (2010), Brad will once again be putting on his guiding hat, as he will be leading a trip to Lhotse - the 4th highest mountain in the world. Great backpack! Been using it to trips to Minneapolis and it holds about 2 weeks worth of clothes inside. Very Lightweight, the shoulder straps are ver comfortable. Everything about this backpack makes me want to buy more! Getting ready to go to Europe with it in a few weeks! Can't wait!
Overall, the design and the functionality of this backpack, I would give it 100%! Love it!

I originally posted the first comment or review and I stand by it! I took this backpack with me as my only backpack, and carried enough clothes to last me 2 1/2 weeks and also food, cameras, toiletries and and extra pair of Toms shoes.
This backpack was pretty heavy with all of my gear, and yet when I wore the backpack, the shoulder straps and the waiststraps held so much of the weight that it was actually comfortable to walk around, in particular, from the train station Paris Gare de Lyon to Gare du Nord and then to Gare de Bercy. And that is no easy hike. I believe it is 3 or more miles through the city. The backpack held so much stuff and was very comfortable to wear.
I would recommend this backpack to everyone! Also this backpack fit in the overhead bins on international flights. I was worried at first about that, but overall this backpack was a great purchase!!!!

I bought this pack a while ago and I LOVE it. Even though it is not specifically designed for women, it fits me well and distributes weight evenly. I am an outdoor professional, and I carry a LOT of heavy gear with me when I backpack or go on climbing trips. With this pack, my back never hurts at the end of the day, and I never feel like a pack mule. Thanks for another great product, Marmot!

Absolutely a fantastic pack. I got it as a climbing pack for single day climbs, and I haven't been disappointed. Its construction is fairly lightweight, with few bells or whistles, but the fabric is still extremely durable. It rides extremely well, and the light padding is very comfortable. I get a little nervous with novel ice axe attachment systems, but this one is straightforward and has served me well.
The "removable bivy pad" is cut fairly poorly for use as such and really isn't worth mention, although I'm thinking of replacing it with a better cut homemade replacement.
All in all, a great climbing pack - one of my favorites. It's my go to pack for one day alpine climbs and will be for the foreseeable future.
