I liked the old orange color, and am sorry to see it go.

It would appear that the orange (Alpenglow) is still very much in production.
That aside, I wonder if the door on the 2012 models is really much of an improvement over the old style drop down door.

The new D shape door is a nice design improvement to an already great tent. It keeps the door up off the ground, which means less dirt and less abrasion on the door.

Here's a video of Katie and Colin setting up our new tent, the Marmot Limelight 3p, for the first time! We found it a pretty easy set-up, albeit rather cramped in Colin’s small dorm, but no doubt something any inexperienced tent-builder can figure out with little to no help.

Theirs is the old model.

i've had a previous version of the limelight for years. looks like you fixed the only two problems the tent had back when i bought it, which are ventilation and door shape.
highly recommended

The only thing that annoys me about my older limelight 3p is the poor door design. Great upgrade to the door on this new version. Is there any way to modify the older versions to this new door style?

I already own a 4 person car camping tent and 2 person back packing tent by other manufacturers. They are nice quality tents. Marmot Limelight 3P tent comes equipped with a footprint. Unfortunately, It does not come with tie out lines. These have to be provided by the consumer. However, The new Limelight 3P is an excellent tent. Very easy to set-up, quality construction, & a great value. As an old and experienced scouter with 37 years of tent experience. I feel Marmot hit a home run with this one.

Just back from holiday weekend with kids, boy did it rain last night!! We camped at Lough Dan off the track, slight slope to keep rain in right direction but was disappointed to feel water at lower end by mid way through night.kids and dog were in other tent and even wetter. Any one got a quality solution for us to test???

Grangers DWR will help restore waterproofness. Over time polyurethane (PU) coatings will degenerate, and fabrics will lose some waterproofness. We use a very durable coating, but PU can wear off, especially in high traffic areas of the floor. If a tent is stored while still wet, mildew will form which can also damage the waterproofness. Other culprits of weatherproof loss are high prolonged heat, (such as storing your tent in the hot trunk of a car or in direct sunlight) or storing your tent without cleaning off abrasive dirt and grit.

My wife and I took it backpacking in RMNP. The double vestibule proved invaluable as we woke up to a bear in our camp. We went out the back door!

This a great 3 person tent. I endured a storm that dumped 1.25" in less than an hour with hail and winds gusting to 55 mph. NO leaks and the tent stood up to the merciless storm. My only request would be sound-proofing for the noise.
Thanks, Will

I have had my Limelight 3p for about a year now. I have been using it almost continuously now for that period of time. I can only find a couple of things wrong enough for me to actually complain about. First thing in heavy rain the rain can beat up into the tent where the fly is closer to the tent on the sides. I think that if that section of the fly was a couple of feet longer going away from the tent it would solve that problem. The only other complaint I have are the windows in the fly. I wish they came with some privacy panels that you could put up to block them off. I bicycle with groups and sometimes camp density can be pretty thick. IE lots of people wandering around! Other than those two things I love this tent. It is easy to set up and has wonderful ventilation for the warmer climates. It has proven to be a great rain shelter even with the one shortcoming. Keep up the good work.

I love the tent. I also have the 4p limelight. I just have a question. Is the Limelight 3p supposed to have the velcro vent in the fly like the 4p or not? Just asking my 4p does but my 3p doesn't. Is my fly wrong or is this normal?

I love my tent! We are beginning our third spring with this tent and it is definitely a winner! It is easy to set up, even by myself. The alcoves and two doors are a real plus when my son and I camp together. There is plenty of room for both of us and our gear. The tent will also fit a queen size air mattress nicely for those car camping trips.
My favorite features are the reflective strips and the strong zippers. The included floor saver/ footprint is very nice too.

This tent is fantastic. I own the previous year's model. The one annoyance I notice with my version is the doors (opening downward, and their shape), which they've fixed in the current model. This tent is light and super fast to set up. I find it roomy inside, and the rainfly-vestibules are spacious for your packs and boots. Having a door on each side of the tent is also incredible; I will never buy a single-door tent again. I usually use the Limelight 3 for two people which gives a little extra space inside. The bonus footprint and gear loft are great extras. I cannot recommend this tent enough.

The limelight 3 is the best tent we've owned. My wife and I used it exclusively during our childless years. It never leaked. It never had condensation problems. Simple setup. Can be put up by one person. Lightweight. Affordable too. Excellent all around tent.

I've had a lot of tents, but this one is, by far, the best in terms of quality, features, and thought-through design. First, the bad: just the tent, fly, and poles (no bags, stakes, or footprint) weighs 6 lbs 2.8 oz. I don't know where the 5/15 comes from. More on weight; the stakes, line, repair tube add 7.5 oz, the footprint adds 11 oz. Still, it's easy to split the weight evenly between two or three. It would stay at home if I was going solo. Three in this tent would be tight. I'm 6'5" and have to make certain I get my head up near the end of the tent, or my feet are pushing against the other end. That's the only bad I can think of. The D doors are great, the zippers work flawlessly, the vestibules on each side cover our backpacks and still leave room for the dogs. Tons of little pocket storage and a mesh loft above. Really well made, taped seams, reinforced corners and stress points. Good stakes, good poles, super easy set up (blonde-proof!) Would I buy this again or recommend it to a friend? Abso-hoot-ly!

Hey guys! I have a question im having a hard time finding out the best way to store my tent in the bag, and i want to know the correct way. I feel like folding the tent and fly makes creases and i notice the pole cords get ripped up on other types if not stored correctly. I want to make all the parts last long.
on 6/11/12.
The most important step: Make sure your tent is completely dry and as free of dirt and grime as possible before you store it.
This will help to prolong the waterproof effects of your tent and the life of the fabric.
You can try folding the tent and fly to the width of the bag and then rolling it up. This makes it easier to fit back into the storage bags. However, make sure that the door of the tent is unzipped and at the opposite end from where you start rolling.
Also, when you are dismantling the tent poles, if you start in the middle and work outwards the pole cords don't get stretched out at the far end.

The Hatch/Dark Cedar colored tent is not grey like it is in the picture. It's a forest green.
5-star tent tho.
