Halo 4P Set-Up Instructions

How to set up your Marmot® Halo 4P
Select a flat, level and protected site free from sharp rocks, twigs or other objects that could puncture the floor of your tent. Avoid pitching your tent in a low spot where water may collect if it rains.

Setting up the Tent Body

  1. Spread the tent out floor side down and loosely stake out the 4 corners of the main tent body using the stake loops.
  2. Carefully unfold all poles and begin assembling. Make sure all sections are fully joined together. Your pole system is connected with the shock cord system for easy assembly.
  3. The Halo 4P has 4 poles. There are 2 longer poles, which are identical and symmetrical. There are 2 shorter poles, which are also identical and symmetrical.
  4. Thread one of the longer poles through one of the pole sleeves. Repeat with the second long pole and other pole sleeve. Once inserted, the poles will make a large X shape, crossing in the middle of the tent. Poles should follow the seams of the tent, and the tips will be directed toward the corners.
  5. Insert 2 pole tips, one at a time, on one side of the tent into the grommets. Repeat with the pole tips on the opposite side of the tent body.
  6. With all 4 tips in their respective grommets, the tent will be erect. Connect clips on the tent body to the corresponding pole. The color of the clip webbing will match the color of the pole.
  7. Locate the black flap with 2 grommets on the sidewall of the tent.
  8. Place the tip of one of the shorter poles into a grommet on the flap. Use the grommet that is furthest from the direction that the pole is wrapping around the tent body. Wrap the pole around the tent body; this pole should go over the existing pole structure. Place the other tip of the pole into the furthest grommet on the flap on the opposite side of the tent. Repeat with the other shorter pole. The ends these 2 poles cross at the flap and form an X shape.
  9. Once the tips of the shorter poles are secured in the grommets, connect the clips on the tent body to the corresponding poles.
  10. If needed, reposition the tent stakes to pull the floor of the tent body taut.

Attaching the Flysheet

  1. Unfold the flysheet and identify the inside of the fly. The inside is coated and seam tape is visible.
  2. Locate the 2 red tabs on the fly and the 2 red tabs at the stakeout points on the tent body. Align the 2 sets of red tabs, connect the buckle at 1 of the red tabs to keep the fly correctly positioned, and drape the flysheet over the tent body with the inside facing down.
  3. The seams of the fly should closely align with the tent poles.
  4. Locate the reflective guy-line tabs along the seams of the fly. There is Velcro under the tabs that will securely attach the fly to the tent pole structure.
  5. If necessary, loosen the webbing at the 4 buckles to connect the fly to the tent body.
  6. Once the 4 buckles are attached, tighten the webbing at the corners until the fly is taut.
  7. Be sure the fly door is zipped closed before you stake out the vestibules. Use the large loops to stake out the vestibule. Use the adjustable webbing to tighten or release the tension.

Reviews and comments

My wife and I bought this tent, we love it. It is great for car camping. It has a ton of space for use and our dog. You won't be disappointed.

Hi,
for the Halo 4 and 6, which I like very much, dont'you make available a fly with a color which blends better with the environment, like dark green for example?
Pale pumpkin/terracotta and green would match perfecly and so many tents sold in Europe have these color combination.
P.S. Compliments for your videos.TY

The reason this tent is the colour that it is, is because it was rated the 2nd happiest colour. When you are inside the tent on a rainy day, you are better off happy than sad. Blending in with the environment is the least of your concern when you are stuck in it on a rainy day. :)

My husband and I bought the Halo 4 and have used it in varying conditions, including torrential storms. Not a drop of water in the tent and we were nice and cozy! We use it for car camping. Extremely easy set up. I would highly recommend this tent!

Great tent. Color is cheerful inside. Set up is easy, (although the directions were out of date for the poles). Ventilation is amazing, even with the rain fly on. Has 6 pockets inside, 2 fairly large. There are vertical stuff pockets for the 2 doors, making it easy to stow a door open in a second. Also the 2 doors make it easy to get out without waking anyone. Vestibules could be larger, but are fine. I did a stupid amount of research before buying this tent for me, my wife and our toddler to camp in. It was worth it.

we recently upgraded from a 2 person to the halo 4.we have a 4 year old son and we were impressed by all the space and good ventilation.friends of ours assumed it was a 6 person tent.we recently set up during a wind storm and wondered whether side pegging would have helped since the wind was rushing under the tent lifting the tent off our tarp.we weren,t sure it would hold just on the corner stakes. overall, the right buy, thanks

i like the tent and feature set. curly's rolls make a good point of room. but what is the vertical clearance / headroom?

Thanks for your question. The vertical dimension of the Halo 4P is 59" / 150cm.

I have this tent and have used it the last 5 summers, having lived in it for a total of about 6 months during which time it was completely exposed to the elements. It weathered extremely well and it is only now that the fly has reached the end of its' life! I have ordered a new fly to replace the old one and I am looking forward to another 5 years from my Halo 4P! I would also like to thank Marmot US and Canada for their friendly and efficient service.

I love this tent and I have been the envy of fellow campers for the last 5 years!

Used 2 of these tents for 8 guys on a week long canoe trip. Lightweight, plenty of room, and very easy & quick to set up. I would highly recommend this tent.

I bought the Halo 4 in July and first used it at Takhini Hot Springs outside of Whitehorse, YK. I love this tent. It is easy to set up and is very roomy inside. It rained several times during the trip, but inside the tent stayed totally dry. One of the things that attracted me to the Halo 4 was that the rain fly extends so far down the sides of the tent. I live in a rainy and breezy climate, so the extended rain fly and vestibules are real assets. The tents is very well made and the reinforcements for the poles are well sewn.

Hi, does it have a way to close the mosquito net for colder weather?

Thanks

You can close the two vents near the ground but the mesh at the top of the tent body and the doors cannot be closed off. Closing the lower mesh vents off makes a big difference, however, in cold and windy weather while still minimizing condensation via the upper mesh. I have this tent and love it.

Bought the Halo 4P and think it's just great. One question: What is the 6" aluminum tube used for that was packed in the pouch with the gold aluminum tent stakes?

Fixes broken poles, you can also use a stick, stake, big nail, etc. NOT permanently of course.

It is a pole sleeve to use as a temporary repair in case you snap one of the poles when you are out.
I would wrap a little bit of duck tape around it so you can hold it in position if it ever has to be used.

Usually those are emergency repair kits - if a pole breaks on a campout you slide that sleeve over the pole and across the break. It will then allow the tent to setup even with the broken aluminum pole.

I love this tent. We've had ours for about three years and its holding up really well. It's really roomy and it does well in wind and rain... we spent 2 weeks in it with rain every day and stayed dry.

I'm wondering if there's a way to purchase a replacement rainfly for it though. We left the tent up while we were gone climbing and someone slashed the fly pretty badly.

My partner and I used the Halo 4P tent for about 6 months total treeplanting in Northern BC, Alberta, and Ontario. It withstood lots of crazy weather that flattened nearly every tent around us. The inside never got wet even once. The only thing that went wrong were when the door zippers all started to split during our last season treeplanting. All in all an amazing tent though, it was very comfortable to live in for long periods of time and I loved waking up in such a bright tent!! We just bought the Thor 3P tent as it's more weather-proof for use at the Burning Man festival, stoked for many years with that one as well!

Hello,

I am trying to decide whether to purchase the Halo 4 or the Limestone 4 and from what I can tell the big differences are the venting and the number of doors/vestibules...can someone please give me some insight?

Thanks :)

Those are the main differences. The Halo is also 10 inches longer. Here is a side-by-side comparison of features: http://marmot.com/compare/118/1568/4367

My husband and I do lots of various camping trips in the wilderness with our 4 young children. We are considering buying 2 tents that would serve family vacations (canoe camping, trekking, etc..) and can keep families dry in storm and multi-day rain conditions. Would you recommend this model??

Absolutely. I have a 12 year old son and 14 year old daughter and with my wife and I we all fit well. Not overly snug, plenty of head room and great all weather, (I have not winter use), product.

I purchased this tent for a growing family that loves camping and sea kayaking. I questioned the weight and size for our type of travel but couldn't get past the room it offered. It is a truly amazing tent from colour to set up and to features. It is stable in all kinds of conditions, keeps you dry on the downpour or foggy nights and allows the milky way to be explored as long as you can keep your eyes open. It was very easy to split up and pack into our kayaks and was waves more fun at our stage than managing two smaller tents. My 9 and 6 year old loved this tent, as did their parents, on our last trip and can hardly wait to get it set up again.

I owned an earlier Halo 4 (2008) and now want a new one. First, the color has never been reason to reconsider and the reflective tape is great at night. The tent is the best I have ever had for 4 person. We have 2 kids, so use it quit often for four. Love all the pockets, ventilation, double door, and the vestibules are so hard to beat. This tent has been through most conditions accept snow, and has lasted through all conditions in Colorado mountains and Utah desert.
