DriClime
DriClime® Moisture Management Technology is a family of uniquely plaited bi-component knit fabrics engineered to mechanically draw moisture away from your skin to keep you dry, warm and comfortable.
The key to DriClime is 3-Dimensional Wicking. As moisture moves from the inner fabric touching your skin to the outer fabric, it spreads out across the outer fabric to speed the drying process. DriClime never stops working; it continually passes moisture through to the outer surface for fast evaporation. It is not a finish that washes or wears out; it works forever.
DriClime technology is available in a wide range of products: shelled microclimate layers, base layer, gloves, sleeping bags and backpacks.

Finally a hooded Driclime jacket to replace my Driclime windshirt (going on 12 years). Any plans to release a version in a more low-impact color?

I am looking for a lightweight, water proof and wind resistent running jacket and really like your gear - but what would you recommend in your range for a running jacket? Preferably with a hood.

If it has to be waterproof, I would say the Paceline Jacket by far, with stretch and a gasketed collar so you can lock it down, it is spectacular. Cool colors, reflectivity and an athletic cut make for a great waterproof running or cycling piece.

Phil,
Check out the Trail Wind Hoody. I personally wear the Driclime Windshirt when I run and it works great. Perfect midlayer or on its own as a baselayer.
Hope that helps.

This is one of my favorite Marmot pieces and I use it in almost every season for more activities than I care to list. When I need a breathable, wind-cutting insulating piece that has some water resistant characteristics, this is it! It is incredibly durable. It became my go-to piece this Spring on Everest as a shell piece and I repeatedly arm-wrap "rappelled" down abrasive fixed lines that directly abraded the jacket and at the end of the season with a quick wash it was nearly impossible to tell the difference between the heavily used jacket and a brand new piece I had in reserve. It shed snow, dried quickly-if it actually did get wet-and kept me dry and warm. It is very much like the Original DriClime Windshirt that Marmot has had in the line for years, but the addition of a hood (that isn't lined with DriClime, nor are the last couple inches of the cuff, so it doesn't try to invert when layering over) that is very unobtrusive, but there when you need/want it and fits great under a helmet when climbing to keep your neck dry and warm. I love the pop/bright colors and some of those taken on Everest that were best received were those taken in my Ether jacket as the contrast on snow was "stunning". I HIGHLY recommend this piece!

I've always wanted a hoodie, but been unwilling to pay the price for high-end synthetic hoodies. I've always wanted a Driclime--but the original was too warm for me so I gave it to my wife. The Ether is the perfect solution. It is light enough that it actually goes on the hike with me rather than staying with the wife. And I was finally willing to pay for the hood. A jacket without a hood is incomplete when the wind gets high! I'm happy.

Really like the jacket overall. I chose the blue but really prefer less vibrant colors for my outer layer. The muted green of the Driclime Windshirt would be perfect and wouldn't scare off the wildlife so much.
The slim fit is great and avoids excessive flapping in the wind while conserving body heat. The hood is also very well designed and covers my head well without obscuring the view in any way. It's also quite comfortable.

Is this the same as the Driclime windshirt, except with a hood? how does this compare to the trailwind hoody?

Here is a link that compares all three of those side by side, and you can see the similarities and differences. http://marmot.com/compare/216/4139/4138/14351
