How much does the footprint for the eos 1p weigh?

13 oz

370g apparently

I do like this tent because the price is fairly reasonable and it's one of the lighter double-wall tents around. Also, I own a Pinnacle sleeping bag with which I'm pretty happy. However, there's a fault in the specs here since they fail to list either the floor dimensions or the height of the tent. It's not confidence inspiring when a gear brand, especially one of a company with the experience and good reputation of Marmot, fails to provide such basic information.

They list the floor dimensions. See "dimensions".

I've used this tent for that past couple years and it gets 5 stars. It has gotten me through several multi-day Southern California camping trips. Condensation is minimal and the set-up is foolproof. I've had to seam seal a couple sections of the floor after a couple crappy campsites dug at the material. Great tent for the quick weekend get away. The Eos 1P is a great lone warrior shelter and I will keep it in the rotation for many years to come. My Golite 2P tent is going up on Ebay soon as this is all I need.

I have a only one concern with this tent, the rainfly. It seems to be a bit to short on the ends (foot & head). If I take the time to make sure each end is even only a bit of the mesh shows. My concern is that in a heavy rainstorm water is sure to get in. Also, who wants to take that extra time ensureing both ends are even.

My suggestion is to lengthen the ends (maybe an inch each) or add tie out points at those ends. Maybe even to add both of those features.

If any users have the same problem and has a solution for me please contact me. I might try to add tie out points myself unless the company is willing to address this so as not to void the warranty.

Completely agree. It is a nice enough tent but am rather concerned about the ability of the rain fly to keep out the elements (foot & head). Also am disappointed by the lack of tie points on the rain fly. Will have to rig the tie points at the ends to keep the wind from flapping away at the tent. Poor rain fly design.

I bought this tent in 2005 for an Appalachian Trail Thru-hike. Though I only made it half way on the trail, I used this tent day in and day out for 3 months (March to May) with no issues whatsoever. It is an amazing little tent. After 5 years, I still have it, don't use it quite as much but it still has plenty of life left. It is still waterproof too!
I recently purchased a Limelight 3 and I hope that I will be as completely satisfied with that one as I am with my EOS1.

I purchased the Marmot Eos one person tent for my very first hiking adventure of the Appalachian Trail in 2004. I had never hiked or camped prior to this 2,174 mile charity adventure. This tent was awesome...easy to set up...fairly lightweight at the time for a double walled tent...and very roomy for one person and their gear. (I kept my gear inside my tent.) I re-used this tent many more times on the PCT
(3,100 miles) and was forced to camp on Fuller Ridge in the San Jacinto Wilderness during a storm. This tent stood the test of strength as wind gusts, hail, and heavy sleet tested its strength as I was fully exposed from all angles. The next day the sun came up and I was happily continuing my hike with my
Marmost Eos no worse through the conditions.
I am sold on the structure, strength, and size of this tent.

i've bought an eos tent 3months ago. i have no idea how many stakes do i have since i bought it. does it include 7 stakes or 8? i'll wait for ur feedback, thanks!

talcom powder

this is a good tent. i have used it over 4 years and its still doing fine.

the only thing which was strange was after packing the tent over for long time, the inside of the rain fly became sticky, the red fabric's inside was more sticky than the orange fabrics,

is there a way to get rid of this?

I have a Swallow 2P with the same problem...anything we can do?

I just spent a long weekend up in the Great Basin during the monsoon season, and I took my trusty Eos, and there were no issues of leaking or windflap whatsover. And thanks to the sureproof one-pole setup, I was always ready long before the afternoon showers were upon me. Mesh gear storage puts my headlamp and glasses just overhead without adding weight.

I bought the tent a while ago. When unpacking a small pipe about 6 inches fell out of the bag. But I don't have any clue where to put it. Can anyone help me with this??
Thanks

the 6 inch pipe is used in case you break a pole. it is a temporary repair. slip it over the broken part and it allows you to continue using the tent.

Thank you! I had the same ?? and I thought that could be what it was since it was the same color anodizing as the pole, but was not sure.

i'm pretty certain that a pole sleeve/brace in case you pole breakage.

This is a sweet tent, my favorite! I recently used it for a week-long canoeing trip through the boundry waters between Minnesota and Canada. LOVED IT! Small, lightweight, easy to setup, dry and cozy. I'm 5'8", but you wouldn't want to be much taller.

Very nice lightweight tent. Its been absolutely solid for the last two years. It took on an intense rain/wind storm up in the Uintas and held up well. Properly staking and guiding the tent out was easy and fast. There was a decent amount of condensation in the mornings. Adding a roof lid vent like some of their larger tents would solve that problem I think. It wouldn't add any noticeable weight. The vestibule provides a large area for gear, even though I can fit my 60L pack inside with me and use it as a pillow. I'm 5'9 175 pounds and the inside is just right. It is minimal, so its not fun being locked in there waiting out a storm, but you'll stay dry and warm. My favorite part has to be how light the tent is.

I bought this tent for a song. I too have questioned whether the fly size was right for the tent(head and foot). My MSR Groundhogs do not fit the stake tape holes. I used Easton Nails instead. The positives outweigh the negatives. I am happy with the size for a 1P. I am real happy with the setup time and simplicity. I like that I did not have to buy the mesh storage bins as they are within the base tent. Tech/Customer support was questionable. They suggested I needed the separately purchasable storage bin. My setup instructions did not match up to the 1P but setup was intuitive.

So I am real satisfied with my purchase!

I just bought this tent on line and it's on the way coming in the post overseas, so my question is the floor dimension is 90 inches how come many reviews say that it will not fit taller people, I'm 6'5 tall and quite worried this tent will not fit me, returning it will not be an option. Can anyone comment on this please? I will use this tent for 3 weeks cycling from Kenya to Tanzania in March with lots of expected rain and insects to be protected from.

Hmmm...I am 5'11" and just bought this tent today. I am very comfortable inside (just enough room for a solo packer) and have about 7inches to spare in length. Considering you are 6'5" it might be cutting it a little short. Either way...if you don't mind the tight squeeze, the tent seems promising all around.

Just bought it and set it up. Very good set up except the instructions about pole tips being color matched to color coded tape is not the case. And I am not sure how the "two large loops" hook up to the vestibule staking tape but will probably not use them. Now only if the color was green or blue.

Great tent, use it on weekend trip's camping and hope to tackle some of the AT this summer. Held up to several heavy mid day Floridian thunderstorms without a drop on the inside. Super light even with that enormous vestibule, the biggest I've seen on a 1P tent. Love the pockets inside, put my Costa's and all the tent bags in there to keep track of them. Packs up nice and small in my pack as well. Also the bare bones setup is great, used it at the beach the other day for some shade, worked flawlessly, great buy.

I bought this tent in Alaska for a two week solo backpack in Denali when it became clear that my bivy sack was not enough to keep out the nonstop downpour. It is incredible. It kept me comfortable and dry, even in heavy rain and high winds. It shook completely dry with the flick of a wrist after a night of heavy rain. And setup is quick.

I'm on the small side, a 5'7" woman, and there was extra space inside. I could sit up easily. And there is room for all my gear in the vestibule.

This tent gets 5 stars. I spent 12 hours of rain...often heavy rain during an odd weather pattern in the southern sierra last summer that sent no fewer than 6 different thunderstorms in na row into the palisades region. The eos (with me in it) was sitting in a half inch of water the entire time. Was high and dry the whole time. I was amazed. I do use the footprint, perhaps that helped. The concerns about the fly being too short in previous reviews might be dispelled by my experience. The fly does seem close, but I watched 12 hours of water drip of the edge and seemingly go under the tent. I stayed dry. There was little wind however (and surprisingly) with these storms. Maybe that was a factor. Great tent. Worth the money.

I purchased this tent for a 2 week bike tour (pedal type). The primary reason I selected this tent is because it was freestanding and light. During those 2 weeks there was hot weather, cool weather, heavy rain, and wind. The tent performed perfectly in all conditions. I was always comfortable, me and my gear stayed dry, even strong wind did not concern me. The others is my group had similar tents, yet all of them had trouble at some point.

Prior to using the tent, I was a little concerned of the size. Some of the reviews that I read said that it was too small, especially in the shoulders. I am not large, but fairly tall (6'0" 160 lbs). I did not have any issues. I was able to lie down and sit up without rubbing the sides. There was even enough room at the end of the tent to store some of my gear that I wanted handy in the middle of the night. It was a little tricky crawling in, while taking my shoes off outside, but hey, it's a one man tent!

Overall the tent met all my requirements for weight and packed size and performed perfectly through a variety of weather. I would highly recommend this tent.

This is a great tent! I have been using it for two years with no complaints. At first, I was a bit concerned about the coverage of the rain fly. But, I have used this tent in heavy rain and have not experienced any leakage what so ever. I did have it set up in a forested area though. I'm not sure how well the rain fly would protect if set up in a more exposed area. I highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for a light weight, well designed, long lasting solo shelter. Good job Marmot!
