Great Marmot Tent!! It comes with loft and ground cloth! Sets up in 3 minutes and provides plenty of space for 2 people but i like it for solo camping! I bought a 1-p aeos marmot but it did not keep rain out in a major downpour storm! The Earlylight gives you a lot of room withe 30sf.!! i wish it weighed less cause i am 68 years old and i have to carry it ( like hiking on Isle Royale National Park )!!

I wish they had this kind of tent quality when i was working on staff at boyscout camps 50 years ago!!

My Earlylight 2 has been great, but the rainfly zipper has broke on one side. I was wondering if you are able to buy just the rainfly? I haven't been able to find the specific cover.

Hi Adam................
A few years ago, whilst in a parachute club, I was lucky enough to get our rigger to repair my tent zips (not a Marmot, but a UK tent), He was a dab hand on an industrial sewing machine!

I have an Early Light 2p that I purchased 5 years ago. At that time there was no footprint available. I there a way I can purchase just the footprint?

Just got this tent. It looks great and I'm excited to try it out. Haven't set it up yet. Can anyone tell me, what is the small approx. 4" pole for that I found in the stake bag?
on 8/17/10.
The 4" pole is likely a repair sleeve for splicing a broken tent pole

The ground cloth that came with my tent appears to be too narrow so that it does not fit the the width and length of the tent. Am I missing something here or is it supposed to be that way?
on 7/16/10.
hm, it is possible that you received the wrong ground cloth. but first, did you try turning it around? like the tent itself, the ground cloth has a narrow end and a wide end. so you have to match up the ends.

I have had this fantastic little tent for three years and I still smile every time I set it up. It is the perfect tent for weekend car camping in the Northern California redwoods and on the coasts. I can snap it together in three minutes while my girlfriend starts the fire. Everything still works as it did on day one. During a night of constant rainfall it did not leak at all, and the vestibules kept the ground underneath dry. I'm 5'0" so there is plenty of room at my feet to keep extra gear, a book, and a flashlight. I love the doors on both sides - you can get out without disturbing your companion. Wish it had a hook at the top for a headlamp - I end up stringing mine through the zipper pulls as a lantern. My only regret is that I do not use it more often!

Hi
Question - would this tent be warm enough to camp in Yosemite and thereabouts up to 10 000 feet in early July? It might get down around 20 degrees overnight, we think (but we are in Australia so don't know much!) I don't like draughts so am nervous of tents that have mesh built in. Do we need 4 season tent? Our current tent is 4 season very toasty but at 4.5 kg (9.9lb) way too heavy!
Many thanks in anticipation.

Donna,
I do not own this particular model but have backpacked extensively in the region you are asking about. This tent will be fine. Warmth is really more a function of your sleeping bag and clothes you are wearing. A four season tent is not really any "warmer" so much as it has heavier bracing to support snow and high winds. I have spent a lot of time in the California Sierras above 10k elevation and the Sierras are pretty mild, but if you do not have the right sleeping bag you will get cold no matter what tent you have. I use the Marmot Pinnacle. It is warm enough that I am able to sleep with it unzipped and draped over me like a blanket. An inexpensive lightweight foam sleeping pad can also add a lot of warmth. I have also noticed that until my body acclimates to the altitude my heart rate is usually about 10-15 beats per minute more than normal (even while laying in my sleeping bag). This increased heart rate increases my metabolism and warms me up (this lasts about the first three days until I acclimate).
Hope this helps. tw

I bought this tent because I am looking to replace an old Kelty 2P tent.
My decision was mostly based on the Marmot name brand, upon some good reviews and the price.
I am an experienced camper. I found the details to be great throughout. High low vent mesh, excellent zippers, a ground cloth included, a loft included, extra sewing at material joints, two doors and a full fly with two vestibules are to be expected in a more costly tent. Thanks to Marmot they are included in this tent.
On a recent campout I experienced good ventilation with no condensation inside on a cold humid night in Florida.
I am impressed.
