PreCip®
PreCip® is our “next step” technology that enables us to construct the lightest, most compressible, technical, waterproof and breathable rainwear in the world. Ventilated and breathable to keep you dry from the inside, PreCip® rainwear has plenty of pockets and custom fit features to keep you warm, dry and comfortable.
The new PreCip® coating is now more waterproof, more breathable and more comfortable to wear. We've added ceramic particles in the coating for added durability, waterproof reliability and Dry Touch comfort.
The key to PreCip® is its barrier technology: a microporous polyurethane that is impregnated with silicon dioxide particles. These particles create small, numerous, very consistent holes that allow the barrier to pass small water vapor molecules but not the bigger liquid ones. This keeps the rain out while letting your sweat vapor work its way outside, away from your body, to keep you dry from the inside as well as from the outside. PreCip® rainwear is compressible enough to stuff into a water bottle and comes in enough colors and styles to travel with you anywhere– to the mountains, the city or overseas.

One amazing light & breathable rain jacket for kids!
We just love it. Each of the 3 kids has one.
it is also an excellent windshell.

I bought a Marmot PreCip® jacket, which my son has now worn for a year and I can recommend as probably the best waterproof/breathable jacket in its category and price range. And my son is as serious about his gear as he is about running. He loves it. He has worn the jacket in diverse weather conditions and for various running activities, from trail running during one of the toughest Northeast winters in history, with record snowfall and cold temperatures, to warming up at the 2011 Nutmeg State Open Track & Field meet in August, with high humidity and a steady downpour before and during his mile event. For $60, this jacket cannot be beat.

I am writing to sing the praises of our kids' Marmot Precip jackets. I have two very active young boys who attend a Waldorf School, which means that they are outside every day climbing trees, digging in the dirt, sliding down metal slides, gardening, holding bunnies and chasing chickens for much of their day, regardless of the weather. We live in Northern California and during the winter months it rains a lot, so their jackets often end up covered with thick, caked-on mud after a fun, busy day at school. There are stretches when these jackets get washed 5 days a week, for 3 to 4 months straight, and they are still in like-new condition! My boys got their Precip jackets when they were 2 and 3 (they are tall) and they have had them for almost 3 years now. I just ordered a size M for my almost 6 year old because he insists on growing taller and taller. :) These jackets have made several camping and hiking trips to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Santa Cruz, Mendocino, and Mt. Haleakala on Maui (very windy) and have never failed to perform perfectly. Get your kid a Precip! You'll be glad you did.
