MemBrain® Strata™

Marmot’s own lightweight waterproof / breathable technology. A lamination technology that rates a whopping 20,000mm in waterproof performance and 20,000 gr in breathability.

Requiring neither lining nor 3-layer construction like many similar lamination processes, MemBrain® Strata™ products are by far the lightest, most breathable garments in their categories.

Marmot’s proprietary 2.5 layer MemBrain® Strata uses micro non-organic particles on the inside of the lamination to increase durability and provide a dry touch instead of that clammy feeling you get from some other products.

The back print pattern is carefully designed to achieve the maximum durability and breathability. Abrasion tests rate 4-5 times better than regular MemBrain® (which is why regular MemBrain, as well as all 2-layer laminates require a separate lining).

Compared to 2.5 layer coatings in the market, our 2.5 layer lamination is about 100% more breathable. In addition, laminated stretch fabrics stretch more and have a softer hand than 2.5 layer coated fabrics.

Love the jacket. I'm 6'2" 205lbs and the Large fits great. Easily fits over a fleece and baselayer or a tee shirt during spring/summer.

Sleeves are long enough and so is the overall length on the jacket. The pockets are nice and deep and the ability to roll the hood up is a nice addition.

I loved this jacket so much I got my fiance the same jacket but in women's (phoenix).

Everything you need, and nothing you don't.

Are you going to produce the 2011 model of this jacket in granite color?
I cannot find on the Web a medium size granite aegis jacket

Thank you for your question, Reynaldo. The Aegis Jacket was not made in granite for S11 but it is still available for Fall 2010. On the bottom left-hand side of this website, locate and click on Fall 2010. Search for the Aegis and you should see the Fall 2010 colors and retailers that have it in stock. Thanks!

I just purchased this jacket. It was one of the few waterproof jackets that met my need for a two way zipper and a pocket that was reachable when seat-belted.

I think I tried on every jacket thats in the Aegis class and this is hands down the best! When you factor in fit, function, durability, affordability, and performance there really isn't anything close. The fit is between an athletic and relaxed fit which I love! It looks and feels great with a t-shirt on or a fleece underneath. I also really like the way Marmot designed the hood. Fits great with or without my mountain bike helmet and when you're not using it velcro's shut under the collar unlike a lot of goofy designs out there..

Great jacket, our team ride down lots of rain around 2 hours and we were 4 bikers dry on Cotopaxi National Park in Ecuador, thanks to Aegis, light, packable, great adjustments on hood, we normally use it on our adventure trips and for our urban life, If you get it! you are right..

Hello!
What kind of jacket would you recommend for a hiking the fjords of Norway (Aegis or PreCip for exaple or something else)?
And tell me, please, have you a distributors\retailers in Russia? Or how I can to buy your items online? Thank you.
Regards, Vladislav.

Sounds like a great trip! The trails around the fjords of Norway can be steep with a lot of elevation change, and the weather can turn on you.

Depending upon how you will be hiking, decide how to balance lightweight and breathable with weatherproof and sturdy.

The Aegis is a great choice, with a balance of all four features. Or you could trim ounces with the Mica, or pump up the durability with the Oracle. The Minimalist is also a great, reliable jacket for just such an adventure.

This page compares all four side-by-side:
Minimalist Jacket, Aegis Jacket, Oracle Jacket and Mica Jacket.

I bought this jacket earlier this yr and just put it thru some real rain action today fishing. Pit zips came in handy when humidity was building up just before the rain. Arm pocket kept my phone dry! My upper-body was dry throughout. Lightweight, a plus enabling me to be mobile and climb rocky banks and to cast out many lines along the shore-line. Great affordability w/ out sacrificing quality.
