Luanne Freer of EverestER reviews the Flurry Pant and the Women's Fjell Jacket

First Marmot snow angel on Aconcagua?

Last month I taught a wilderness medical course while climbing Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America. As you might imagine, altitude sickness was discussed at length both in and out of the classroom and all of the students were on vigilant alert for symptoms of potentially deadly high altitude cerebral edema (which can begin with a headache and advance to unusual behavior then coma.) So there we were, making an acclimatization walk up toward camp 3, right around 18,500ft, and you can imagine that when they came along to see me flailing in the snow, flapping my arms and legs, they were reaching for their medical kits and ready to organize a carry-down. Relax, guys, I’m just trying out the Marmot Flurry Pant and women’s Fjell jacket! The Flurry Pant, an incredibly warm synthetic insulated (but not too puffy!) pant is not only toasty, but water resistant (and extra tough too, thanks to the reinforced seat my backside was dry and didn’t rip on the rocks underneath.) Love the full side zips for ventilation and easy on/off too!
And up on top, the womens Fjell Jacket carried me through the entire expedition - made to fit over fleece or softshell layers, this three-layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell can take you to the wildest landscapes on Earth, and do it in style. Cut and sized specifically for us girls, the Fjell is mountain tough. Because of it’s versatility and incredible detailed bonus features, this jacket is in my top 5 must haves for all future expeditions – including those that include high altitude snow-angel- making!
