Fabrizio Zangrilli reviews the Marmot Spring Glove 5/13/09
Hey, I’m Fabrizio Zangrilli, member of the Marmot Athlete team, and I’m out here ice and mixed climbing in the Rockies in Colorado. I wanted to talk a little bit today about my glove choice.
On the way in today it wasn’t too cold, and I wore the liner alone without the shell to my Marmot Alpinist Glove. It’s extra-fit, GORE technology. Very warm, very dexterous. It has a combination of very, very grippy leather on the palm and also great abrasion-resistant material for where the glove will wear the most while repelling.
Today I climbed the first pitch in these and I didn’t wear the liner. They’re very dexterous and warm enough for the temperatures today. The second pitch required a bit more mixed climbing and so I wore the Marmot Spring Glove. It’s a lighter weight glove, very, very sticky palm; it’s a soft shell outer; and it works great for when you need to grab gear off your rack, work with ice screws. Very, very dexterous, I can turn them, get them in great, clip biners no problem. A glove I love for technical climbing.
Well…we’re up here, we’ve got to start repelling. I guess I’ll start tying these ropes together and think about getting out of here. One thing that I normally love about having the combination of the Alpinist and the Spring Glove is I can layer the Alpinist over the Spring Glove for belays. That way I’m super warm as well. As you can see both are very, very dexterous gloves. I can get everything done that I need to do, and I’m happy as can be. Quick and easy. Super fast. Super dexterous. See you at the bottom - thanks for watching.
