This uses Marmot’s own M3 soft shell fabric. This is the most breathable and therefore the least weather resistant of their soft shell range, which might perhaps limit its four-season usability. However, you could also argue that with a base layer underneath and a waterproof shell over the top, it actually makes it more versatile! What is not in doubt though, is the value that this trouser offers. You get a tough, stretchy, breathable and reasonably weather resistant trouser with four adequately sized pockets, and a gusseted lower leg to go over ski and mountain boots. In other words, virtually everything you need in a mountain trouser, and the fit is neat too. You may want a more weather resistant pant for winter but otherwise, very hard to fault. – Jez Portman
