Climber 11/08 Torrid
Smart Layering Piece
Most of the Marmot gear that I’m featuring this month has two things in common. The first three items are all £90 and yes, they’re in the new Marmot autumn/winter range for 2008. First up is a very smart looking jacket called the Torrid. It’s smart, looks good and I want one (but it’s going to have to wait until after the impending trip to Austria for a break and chill out session.
There’s a few colourways to choose from, but each one uses a new Polartec fabric that’s currently an exclusive for Marmot. Polartec have developed the fabric – Polartec Power Stretch Hardface – by giving the material a polymer infusion on the face side of the fabric. This gives the fabric more abrasion resistance plus durable water repellency too without reducing either the breathability or the stretch properties associated with the standard version of Power Stretch. Uses for the Torrid? As a layering piece over a lighter weight base layer or as a replacement for a lighter weight soft shell.
