Ellipse Sport Tank reviewed by Luanne Freer

This morning I ran in a 10K race in Bozeman Montana to support a great cause – a group of local philanthropists trying to fund their project to supply water and food to Ethiopian orphans. (www.scrambleforethiopia.com ) Sporting my new Marmot Women’s Ellipse Sport Tank, I felt like I had a competitive edge – this light tank with flat lock construction (no armpit chafing!) and a tag free neckline (no nagging irritation!) were sure to shave seconds if not minutes off my time – I was certain. The fetching and refreshing mandarin color set off the sunrise light at the starting line just beautifully. But I didn’t win. Didn’t even place. Did the ellipse sport tank cause some wind resistance that slowed me down? I’m not so sure…

…well, actually, it has been said that I am built for comfort, not for speed. And if I’m brutally honest I would have to admit that in past races I have been known to draft behind the aged and infirm….and okay, I’ve heard “atta boys” from the sweep crew on more than one occasion… and if I were any kind of grazing animal in a herd of thousands, I would be most likely to end up as dinner for a family of the slowest carnivores on the Serengeti plains. Reality check: I’m slow.

So, okay, no clothing, no matter how sleek or comfortable is going to get me a ribbon in the race. But Marmot’s Ellipse Sport Tank at least made me look like I coulda been a contender. I’m good with that.
