I just wanted to take a moment to rave about your product. I have a gortex bag that I bought when I was 18 (that was 27 years ago). I use it constantly and it has never let me down. At one point I got a hole in it and took the bag to your Berkeley, CA store where it was repaired and re-stuffed at no charge. I am a firm believer in the quality of your products and hope you continue to make them. Thanks Marmot!~
THANK YOU MARMOT. I spent $100 for a sweatshirt from you guys 4 years ago, and I have worn it practically EVERY WEEK since, in class, on the mountain, in the desert, etc. It is STILL in GREAT condition, and my go-to sweater! All I can say is job well done.
My PreCip jacket's inner lining (the waterproof part) is starting to wear away (esp where the hood meets the neck) and I am assuming it will be less waterproof. this is probably not part of the warranty... what can i do to repair it? if nothing, do you recycle these? thx!
Hi I have purchased 3 of your ladies flashpoint jackets when I was in the US and have tried to purchase 3 more from the Internet but no one can send them to Australia. Do you know of any shops that will post them to Australia. Thanks so much
Jennine:-)
I purchased a Precip Wm's Jacket just recently (in Sweden). On one of the attached tags it says in three different languages (Eng. German, French) "Guaranteed for Life, register at marmot.com". However, when I tried to register, it only allows addresses in the US and Canada. How come?
I live in Sweden.

I received a Ennoble Jacket last year as a gift. I have been very happy with it and have had a lot of positive complements on it. However, there have been a number of times in which I forgot my scarf and wished that the jacket had a full zip up collar. This is a great jacket however if you made this jacket with a full collar I would definitely buy another one.
I love the Marmot line of outwear. It was maybe 10 years ago that I first learned about it when a company I worked for used your line for our uniform jacket. It was awesome.
Anyway, I am currently almost 3 mos. pregnant, I live in SE Alaska where even in the summer months it is wise to have a decent jacket that: blocks the wind, repels the water, and provides some warmth. I would LOVE to get the Summerset softshell, and if I were not currently pregnant, I would be happy to shell out the $130 to get it. HOWEVER... if I do that right now, the jacket is in a fitted shape, it might last me two more months and then I'll either have to leave it unzipped and let my ever growing self freeze around my midsection... or have to buy another jacket altogether, for the rest of my pregnancy.
I have searched high and low for a decent coat- but as I said before, SE Alaska is not a place for wimpy coats and gear.
If I were to shell out the useless hundreds for a maternity coat from places like A Pea in the Pod, etc. it would be a waste. They rarely serve a purpose other than to look pretty. Most of the time if I buy a coat from a place like that, and wear it up here, I might as well walk around wrapped up in paper towels- they're never water repellent, they often let the wind blow right through them, and in my opinion they are a huge waste of good money.
However, sadly according to REI, Marmot, and the many other companies I rely on for decent gear to keep me comfy- we're not supposed to be pregnant, we're always supposed to fit in a "fitted" coat, and should we become pregnant we need to do it some where that coats and long johns are not required.
Even more tragically for me, I will be in my final months during the dead of winter, I can only imagine what I'll have to wear then, especially since I comfortably fit in a Large, currently, an XL MIGHT last me to my half way point, and after that I'll either have to buy a coat from a women's plus size store, or I'll have to dawn an ugly, ill fitting man's coat that will be too big through the arms and neck, comfortable at the midsection and probably come in an ugly brown or navy.
Can't wait to see these companies recognize the miracle that women create babies!! ;)
I WOULD LOVE to get one now, but I'm 3 mos. along and if I get one I'll have to leave it open, during the later part of my pregnancy... in SE Alaska, during the cold, cold winter months, OR have to buy an ugly man's coat that will be too big in the neck and chest, and maybe be comfy at the midsection- and probably in boring black, or an ugly brown or navy.
PLEASE SAVE ME FROM the wind, the rain, the eventual sleet and snow while I'm pregnant!!
It seems that Marmot, and many other outdoor/adventure gear stores seem to think that pregnant women either don't exist (only fitted coats & clothing...), or they don't ever need long johns, outerwear, or anything else.
Regarding sizing...
I really like your men's Scree Pants, but am sized directly between M and L. Usually I fit M, but it barely stretches comfortably in the waist and the crotch and rear end up a little snug. The L barely stays up without a belt, but the real problem is it's too baggy in the legs. Since it's a stretch climbing pant, I might try the M, but will only do so because the store will take returns in any condition. Otherwise I'll find something else or have a L altered. More sizes would help!
Also, I have long arms, and tall versions of jackets would be great! I have a Marmot Ultima soft shell that fits perfectly, but a few others of your jackets didn't. I'm having a hard time finding a hard shell. I don't like compromising on sleeve length for technical jackets.
Im a big fan of your products, i have several myself. Im mostly interested in top end, and ultra light gear. i must say tho, your website has gotten very messy.... very disappointing, as the old site was great. its must harder to find things, and you dont know which products compare, as its all mixed up... why is sort by popularity default.. ? the people buying your products are people that know what they want... we dont care about 'popularity' ! we come to you coz you offer the best, and we'll find what we need -> the old sorting was much better.
Hi, I have been shopping rain jackets online for a while now, and finally decided on the Marmot Aegis jacket. I need the XL size and want the eclipse color. I cannot find this combination anywhere among online retailers. Has the Aegis been discontinued, or maybe this eclipse color? Will it become available again soon, or should I just go ahead and look among the competing brands that I have shopping through? I have left notification email requests with a few of the retailers, but I won't wait more than a month or 2. Please get back with me on when I can expect to see this available to buy again. Thanks.
I called Marmot and found out the the Warmlight jacket, which has been discontinued by Marmot, was the most recent zippin compatible lining. I found one in my size and the color that matches my Tamarack. Thicker than I want, but OK anyway. They warned me that the zipper may not match because of problems they've had with their supplier, but if they don't, I can send both garments in and they'll replace one or both zippers so they match.
I got a Marmot Tamarack jacket for Christmas 2008. I wear it when I'm downhill skiing, and like it a lot, but I always need at least one more layer between the shell and baselayer. I'd love the jacket if I could find a light-weight zippin liner. One fewer thing to remember and bring along, and one fewer thing to put on and take off each time I wear it.
Product suggestion: I love this jacket BUT the velcro tabs on the outside have snagged my purse. May I suggest that you add a tab that would fold over the hook side of the velcro when not in use?
Thanks.
Abbey, thanks for your comment. We actually have two women's GORE_TEX® Pro Shell jackets, the Fjell and the Exum. The Exum was dropped for spring 10 and the Fjell has XS and XL only available right now.
I was just wondering why you don't carry a Gor-tex Pro shell jacket for women? I am an avid hiker who spends my summers leading groups on trips into the Adirondack mountains. I frequently hike in torrential downpours and need a jacket that can handle those extreme conditions. I love your product, but I am disappointed that you don't have this option for women.
Your understanding is correct, we have two levels of MemBrain® fabric. The Frontside and Transit Jackets use a MemBrain® with a higher level of waterproofness and breathability. The Edge, Launch and Tamarack are designed for more moderate conditions.
In comparing various of your MemBrain® laminated shells based on the information provided from your site, I've noticed that some are plain MemBrain® in "main material" description of the shell, while others are MemBrain®10.
For example, the Frontside and Transit jacket have a MemBrain® laminate, while the Launch, Edge, Tamarack have the MemBrain®10. Because I've read your "Tech" manual, I'm led to believe the former shells incorporate the higher MemBrain® laminate, perhaps because their anticipated use likely involves more warmer wetter weather, while the others are more geared toward cold weather.
Whatever the case, is my understanding correct that the Frontside and Transit jacket offer the "best" MemBrain® laminate? I want to make sure I'm correctly interpreting the fabric descriptions on your site. Most vendors do not provide this information.
I purchased a Marmot jacket about 5 years ago, and though the fabric on the forearm failed almost immediately, I continued wearing this garment. I loved the jacket. However, this year, I finally broke down and brought it back to the store to be returned to Marmot. Much to my delight and surprise, Marmot gave me a $250 toward any new product. I got a jacket that was very similar to the original. It also came with a matching downlike "sweater". The color is terrific and I love the liner.
Thank you, Marmot. I think that your products get better every year.
I ride motorcycles, and thanks to the warmth and flexibility provided by marmot, my riding season has extended to year round! I understand mine is not a target market for you, but you are the logical choice for warm, weather resistant gear without all the bulk.
I would love to get my hands on a marmot patch to display on my leather, since nobody sees the marmot gear and just assumes I'm a crazy fool out on a bike in subfreezing temps.
Oh, and for site feedback, how about a product feedback link so we don't all have to hijack the site feedback?
As incongruous as this may seem, have you considered making a waterproof pair of chaps with your DriClime materials? Waterproof rain pants are hot in the summer when you're active unless they're completely vented.
Just wondering. I would buy them in a second because to stay warm (not perfectly dry) when it's pouring, I just need to keep the rain off my thighs as I climb.
I could get through spring/summer/fall with shorts and a good pair of waterproof chaps.
No one is really delivering in this regard, and I love your gear.
I live in South Africa and travel to the US a couple of times a year. I have often purchased Marmot products while I am there (usually Paragon Sports, NYC or Campmor, NJ).
I have a shipping address in New Jersey and would like to buy online, but the problem is trying to obtain info regarding a product. For example I would like to order a pair of Rockstar pants, but am not sure of the sizes. Is there any way I can find out what size would be appropriate? I am a 32 inch waist and a 34 leg (6 foot tall). Your sizing chart indicates I could be either a Medium or a Large as you do not have long or short sizes. Can you please help? Thanks.
