Staff Accountant
We are seeking a staff accountant to work with our international subsidiaries at our Santa Rosa, CA headquarters. In addition to working with our international subsidiaries, this position also performs reconciliations for our domestic subsidiaries and assists with Internal Audit compliance. Looking for a flexible, enthusiastic, go-getter who is able to handle month-end close with ease, but who won’t mind some of the more mundane tasks such as entering data and maintaining spreadsheets for tracking purposes. The perfect candidate will have good analytical skills and a desire to take on some of the more technical aspects of accounting for foreign entities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are key; as there will be communication with employees, vendors and customers in foreign countries.
This is an hourly non-exempt position and reports to the Senior Accountant – International.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supporting the timely flow of int’l invoicing and LC drafts.
- Cash flow forecasts.
- Prepares bank reconciliations.
- Prepares general ledger journal entries
- Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for accurate and timely month-end close of one or more of our subsidiaries.
- Maintains fixed assets and related depreciation schedules.
- Prepares GST returns.
- Minimum two years experience at staff accountant level.
- Experience accounting for Inventory.
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills.
- Experienced user of mid- to high-level accounting software packages.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow in a fast paced environment and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
- Hyperion and FAS experience a plus.
- Knowledge of 404 compliance a plus.
- FAS 133 experience would be awesome.

Sales/Customer Service/Store Operations

Credit/Collection Specialist - Finance
Wanted – A motivated, enthusiastic Credit and Collections Specialist to work at our California headquarters. Primary responsibilities include: timely collection of cash, account reconciliation, review aging reports, prioritize collection efforts to optimize cash flow, follow-up calls to past due accounts and arranging payment plans within guidelines.
The Credit and Collections Specialist duties include but are not limited to:
- Generating and reviewing assigned aging reports.
- Making collections calls to accounts within assigned territories, proactively communicating with dealers to request payment and resolve disputed invoices.
- Performing detailed account reconciliations as needed to resolve complex, disputed receivable issues; such as, freight claims, co-op, discounts, shortages and other adjustments taken by customers.
- Responsible for keeping assigned territory aging clean.
- Reviews and mails monthly statements.
- Communicate status of account problems on a regular basis to Credit and Collections Supervisor.
- Responsible for incoming queue calls.
This position requires exceptional reporting and data skills, the ability to stay focused and prioritize work from a variety of sources with constant changes/interruptions throughout the day. Successful performance requires acute attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Requirements include: AA degree and/or 2 – 3 years related experience in credit collections environment in a consumer products company. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to exercise good judgment in resolving problems, work planning, organization, attention to detail and managing conflict to negotiate positive outcomes. International Accounts Manager
Wanted – A motivated, professional and organized individual who has the ability to problem solve effectively and provide consistent communication and follow-through to work in our Northern California, Headquarters. Must be a self-motivated team player and demonstrate a high degree of focus and work prioritization within an ever changing, fast paced environment.
As the International Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for ongoing customer service support to international distributors and international subsidiaries. This position effectively processes, researches and resolves; problems of product availability, shipment of goods, facilitates import and export processes for product orders, samples, and promotional materials.
Successful performance requires knowledge of international documentation requirements, export variances, research of import laws to prevent or resolve unusual situations such as shipments stalled in customs. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment, with an awareness of various cultural practices and infrastructures.
Supervisory experience is essential as is a strong customer service orientation along with the ability to promote products, their functionality and Marmot brand image. Must have the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, exercise good judgment in resolving problems, work planning, organization, and manage conflict to negotiate a positive outcome.
Past experience must demonstrate progressively responsible experience in an international customer service role with responsibility for meeting requirements of import/export rules. Working knowledge of EXCEL Word processing, 10-key and order entry system (Porini) or similar product management system is also required, as is the ability to build and manage good working relationships. Requires valid DMV, own transportation and 10-15% travel.

Technical Designer
Seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, team player with industry experience demonstrating “cut & sew” background and/or development of cut & sewn goods (e.g. pattern making, apparel and/or properties of material construction). The Technical Designer position is responsible for the development & commercialization of products within an assigned area of responsibility. They work within established development processes, established quality standards adhering to company time lines. This position works from Marmot’s Product Development department in Santa Rosa, California.
Technical Designer is not a design graphics job or designer position. Technical Development is 99%:
- "Commercialization " of softgoods apparel product line
- Emphasis in specification details ( building tech pack )
- Fit and construction comments and relationship with overseas factories.
As a Technical Designer you will be responsible for all aspects of the development/commercialization process having to do with specification packages and sample development. Including but not limited to creating and maintaining product specification packages from prototype to production.
Successful candidate must have the ability to maintain development documents and stay focused while prioritizing work for multiple seasons concurrently with constant changes. Must have experience which demonstrates the ability to exercise good judgment, working planning and tactical problem solving skills to coordinate and meet line development calendar. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as this position must successfully communicate at all levels, working with factories, contractors and design staff to ensure company quality standards, functionality and reducing environmental impacts are met.
Requires - 4-year degree in fashion design, product management or equivalent experience in design, development, production and/or merchandising. Must have knowledge of apparel construction, material construction and properties, pattern making, costing, embroidery and surface applications (e.g. screen printing, etc.). Additional skills required are strong verbal communication, work planning, organization, and attention to detail. Working knowledge of personal computer with experience in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft office EXCEL and PowerPoint is also required.

Director Raw Materials
The Director of Raw Materials reports to the Vice President of Design/Development and is accountable for the conceptual development and commercialization of raw materials, fabric development, testing and new fabrications. He/she collaborate with the marketing, sales, engineering and sourcing functions to explore, develop and create innovative fabric concepts. The position manages the materials team in the development of new fabrics, coordinates with mills to develop and test new fabrications, and ensures that new fabric/raw materials are consistent and innovative and align with the company’s strategic business plans and profitability goals.
Must effectively work with department executives, suppliers, engineers, and manufacturers to identify and develop new product concepts, innovations and fabric technologies. The Marmot Designer position is accountable for participating in the determination of styles, materials, and color directions based on input from sales/marketing, merchandising, development and manufacturing staff. Must keep abreast of fashion trends and consumer needs, and supports the integrity of the lines/brands and the goals of the company. Produces design sketches and makes seasonal presentations of product designs. Prior experience must demonstrate consistent delivery of creative and compelling designs.
